Her worst album. Just everything about it felt so rushed, like, she just had to release one album not even a year after The Eras Tour ended. To me, it was like she scrapped something together, just so she wouldn’t lose momentum.
Which is disappointing, considering she could’ve put ten other (and better) vault tracks.
The aesthetics of the album didn’t really make sense, considering there’s only one song on the entire record about The Life Of A Showgirl. I also really dislike the cover, it’s so awkward. I wished she used any other alternative CD cover for the main cover.
After the release of *The Tortured Poets Department—*an album that saved my soul—I expected more from Mrs. Swift. But I guess that’s more on me than her.
I’d like to point out one thing that really bothered me while listening to the album. During The Fate Of Ophelia one lyric is
“'Tis locked inside my memory / And only you possess the key”
which is a quote that Ophelia says to her brother in Act 3 of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Swift flips the concept of the quote to make it about a romantic partner.
No es su mejor disco está claro, nivel flojo peeero u popular opinion, ami me gustó cuando a nadie le había encantado.
Mantengo mi top 5 desde el primer día:
- Elizabeth Taylor
- Cancelled
- The Fate Of Ophelia
- Actually romantic
- Opalite
After an outstanding album in ttpd this was underwhelming, boring and lacklustre and it feels like she made this for TikTok and not for the love of music.
Same as speak now, people don’t appreciate it enough and it’s really not as bad as people would have us believe! Sure, it’s not her best album, but it’s still very good, you only have to look at the stats and the popularity of The Fate of Ophelia !!
When you take the time to listen to it and really appreciate what it conveys, you can enjoy it, and I’ll always be a defender of this album because it gets unfairly hated
I can understand why people don’t like it, we all have different tastes and that’s fine, and perhaps in some respects we can question Taylor’s choices, but musically speaking, it’s still very very good
Enough time has passed to say that it’s a good album and that it’s not as bad as people say, it’s not his best album but it’s not bad at all
I’d call it a fun album in any case I enjoy listening to it
The Life of a Showgirl is a good album. It is not a bad album, but it is also not an album that fully lives up to what it promises. The showgirl concept is strong, and the aesthetic built around it is beautiful. The entire era was very well thought out, from the pre-order to the way the album was presented. I followed everything closely, and it was one of Taylor Swift’s releases that made me want to listen to it the most. The record has good songs, and I still listen to it quite often. However, over time, it starts to feel a bit tiring. It is hard to explain exactly why, but it feels like the experience does not grow with repeated listens. Some tracks end up sounding too similar to each other. Even so, there are very strong highlights. The Fate of Ophelia stands out as an intense, well-crafted song that truly makes an impact within the album. The track The Life of a Showgirl, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, also works very well and captures the spirit of the era. The issue is that some songs have a more muted, almost dull tone, which weakens the concept. Instead of reinforcing the showgirl aesthetic, these tracks end up diluting the album’s overall strength. In the end, it feels like the record had everything it needed to be more impactful than it actually is.
Notable tracks: The Fate Of Ophelia, Opalite, Ruin The Friendship, CANCELLED! and The Life of a Showgirl
Absolutely cod awful dog shit that is so cringe it almost killed me.
i love love loveeeee this album but it just doesn’t stick out to me like her other albums and it wasn’t life changing. i don’t listen to it on loop as i do with many other albums.
Basic pop instrumentals where original, a lot of interpolations and such, lyrically not amazing.
not my usual taylor but she always has bangers 💫
