Retro Futurism is perfection compressed into chaos. Bold, provocative, and conceptually brilliant, the EP captures Triple H at their absolute peak, merging retro aesthetics, surreal storytelling, and dangerous chemistry into one of K-pop’s most iconic experimental statements. It’s flawless in vision… but criminally short.
Sonically, the project blends retro funk, synth-pop, hip-hop, psychedelic pop, and lo-fi textures with distorted, groove-heavy production. Basslines crawl, beats swagger, and melodies feel hazy and seductive. The sound is cohesive, daring, and unmistakably theirs, creating a cinematic, unstable atmosphere.
Lyrically, Retro Futurism explores obsession, desire, fame, decadence, rebellion, identity, and emotional decay. The writing is surreal and provocative, blurring fantasy and reality, performance and confession. The trio’s chemistry is electric, turning every track into tension and narrative.
The 4-star rating reflects near-top-tier artistry with one fatal limitation: length. Artistically, the EP is bold, cohesive, and conceptually brilliant, but its extremely short runtime prevents deeper immersion, narrative development, and emotional expansion. It feels more like a masterpiece fragment than a full chapter.
Retro Futurism stands as one of the most daring and influential subunit releases in K-pop history. Dangerous, stylish, and endlessly fascinating, it proves Triple H at their most visionary… even if fans are left desperately wanting more.
