Kesha is a force to be reckoned with on her last album in the contract. Having been forced to create music under her abusers label for years, she is finally free. More experimental than she has ever been, not to say you’ll hear anything you’ve never heard. This is a uniquely liberating and harrowing project.
Kamauu delivers here with interesting tracks that showcase an impeccable sense of writing and production. I am not currently aware of anyone else who can rap this good AND sing this good.
An absolute train wreck and rejection of form to the previous album, Trench, which established good footing to position the duo to create something interesting. Whether this album is part of the lore or not, it’s not worth listening to.
The posthumous album from Mac Miller is delicate and weary and almost prophetic of what was to come before it was even released. But Malcom uses his last songs to reach out and hold us, comforting us, to let us know that life will go on.
Javelin is the beautiful, heart wrenching project dedicated to Sufjan’s late partner, Evan. Clear passion and pain behind the lyrics and delivery and after feeling his feelings loudly in the opening track, Sufjan reverts back to sit and deliver melancholic and minimalist songs to honor Evan’s life and profess his love and misery and dread for his life to come.
