this album is exactly what i needed to hear from yves. she talks about death, letting go of insignificant things and being free, heavy feelings, and being reborn. In order, “It” being about death and thinking about all the things you’ve done in your life, people you’ve met, that you’ll have to face soon. “HALO” is not my favorite on the album, however I do see the appeal of the song, the repetitiveness is not my vibe! “NAIL” the title track, has so much meaning to it. The song being about letting go and being free, while also portraying lesbianism in a very recognizable way, that being the nails. “Break it” is my favorite on the album, the feeling of coming home after a very long and emotionally draining day and washing all of that off and starting over. Lexie Liu was perfect on this track and her vocals are so beautiful. “birth” is about “being reborn” in a way. Forgetting the other person, and not knowing anything about them, being right in front of them but not seeing them at all. Overall this album is one of my favorites of the year so far.
