folklore is quiet introspection turned into atmosphere. Restrained, literary, and emotionally muted, the album marks a deliberate departure from pop spectacle toward storytelling and mood.
It’s less about confession and more about observation; feelings seen from a distance rather than lived in real time.
Sonically, the album leans into indie folk, soft alternative, and minimalist production. Piano, acoustic guitars, and muted textures dominate, creating a hushed, cohesive soundscape. The production is elegant and tasteful, but intentionally low-impact, prioritizing calm over momentum.
Lyrically, folklore focuses on fictional narratives, memory, regret, and emotional abstraction. Taylor writes with poetic intent, favoring imagery and suggestion over immediacy.
